Ultimate Cleaning List For 2017

Written by Kirsten Warwick | January 3, 2017

When life gets busy, things get messy. With hectic schedules, it's hard to keep track of everything that needs to be cleaned in the home. The best way to keep your home clean and organized is to have a schedule or list of things to accomplish.

When you stick to a cleaning schedule, all of your tasks get done and you don't have to worry that you missed something. A schedule of daily, weekly, monthly and even annual tasks will give you peace of mind and clear goals.

Without further ado, we present the only list you will need to keep your house clean in 2017 and beyond.

Daily Tasks

These tasks should be done every day. By doing so, your house will be cleaner and messes won’t pile up.

  • Make beds
  • Clean dishes
  • Wipe down kitchen counters and stove top
  • Sweep the floor
  • Clean up spills and other messes
  • Empty out full garbage bins
  • Pick up clothes from the floor

Weekly Tasks

These tasks should be done once a week. To make sure each is accomplished, pick a different task to do each day of the week. That way, these larger tasks are not all done on the same day which will create less stress.

  • Vacuum and mop floors
  • Clean and fold laundry
  • Scrub and disinfect toilet
  • Clean mirrors
  • Change and clean sheets
  • Disinfect doorknobs, keyboards, remotes
  • Organize paperwork

Monthly Tasks

These are tasks that can be done once in a while. There are parts of the home that don't get messy but grime accumulates over time. By accomplishing these tasks at least once a month, you’ll have a much easier time cleaning that if you were to leave them longer.

  • Scrub and disinfect shower and bath tubs
  • Dust furniture, light fixtures, frames and other surfaces
  • Clean microwave and fridge
  • Wash inside windows

Semi-Annual Tasks

These are tasks that can be done two or three times a year. Or, depending on your lifestyle or the amount of people in your home, in between each season.

  • Clean and disinfect toys
  • Wash outside windows
  • Throw out outdated food and condiments
  • Sort clothing
  • Clean floors under furniture
  • Wash baseboards
  • Throw out outdated medication
  • Clean out drawers and cabinets
  • Sort and dispose of outdated pantry items

Annual Tasks

These tasks are usually big tasks that only need to be done once a year. For these chores, it's best to look at your calendar and decide when these things will fit into your schedule. Some need some pre-planning or re-organizing of your home. To be able to achieve all these goals, it's a good idea to choose one every month or two.

  • Wash walls
  • Wash light fixtures and fans
  • Rent a chapter cleaner and clean the carpets, couches and other fabric furniture
  • Deep clean inside oven and hood
  • Properly dispose of old batteries, paint and electronics
  • Clean gutters
  • Wash curtains
  • Clean fireplace

By using a cleaning schedule and routine, you will get more done over time instead of trying to get everything done in one day or 30 minutes before company comes over. Not to mention, you’ll feel good knowing your home is spic and span.
