    Commute Times From Edmonton's Bedroom Communities

    Life is good when you live in one of Edmonton's bedroom communities, but the big question on most prospective home buyers' minds is: 

    How long will it take me to get to Edmonton?

    Everyone wants to choose a home with an easy commute. The good news is, Edmonton's finest bedroom communities are perfectly located to give residents lots of wide open green spaces and a small-town feel while still being close enough to the big city that you can enjoy fine dining, major sporting events, award-winning theater shows, and upscale shopping.

    If you're considering moving to one of Edmonton's bedroom communities, here's what you need to know about commuting. 

    South Ravines in Devon

    South Ravines is situated approximately 18 kilometers southwest of Edmonton.

    To get to the Edmonton Airport: Living in South Ravines makes getting to the airport incredibly easy. After heading east on Highway 19, it takes just over 10 minutes to get to the airport.

    To get to Churchill Square: From South Ravines, it's just a short drive to reach Highway 19 and, from there, connect to QE2 (turns into Gateway Blvd) to shoot straight into downtown Edmonton.

    Springate at Spruce Ridge is situated approximately 19 kilometers west of Edmonton.

    To get to the Edmonton Airport: One of the benefits of living in Spruce Grove is that getting to the airport is easy and you do not even have to go through Edmonton. By heading south, you'll connect with Highway 627. Head south on Devonian Way (AB-60) and then bear east on 36th Street in Nisku until you reach the airport. 

    To get to Churchill Square: From Springate, it's a straight shot right into the centre of Edmonton. Simply follow Highway 16-A due east. Or, alternatively, you can take Highway 16 until it gets to Alberta Avenue. Either way, your journey will take approximately 35 minutes.

    Westerra, SouthCreek, and Silverstone in Stony Plain

    WesterraSouthCreek, and Silverstone are located approximately 30 kilometers west of Edmonton.

    To get to the Edmonton Airport: The airport's always within reach for residents of Stony Plain. By heading south on 48th Street, you'll connect with Highway 627. Head south on Devonian Way (AB-60) and then bear east on 36th Street in Nisku until you reach the airport. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes.

    To get to Churchill Square: When you live in Stony Plain, getting to downtown Edmonton is incredibly easy. By taking 48th Street north for a few minutes, you'll connect to the Highway 16. From there, it's straight east until you get to the city centre. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes.

    Commute Times From Edmonton's Bedroom Communities Couple ImageSienna and Forest Ridge in Fort Saskatchewan

    Sienna and Forest Ridge are situated approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Edmonton.

    To get to the Edmonton Airport: Even though these communities are located on the opposite side of Edmonton from the airport, a benefit of living in Fort Saskatchewan is it'll only take about 40 minutes to reach it. By following Highway 21 south to Sherwood Park, you'll connect to the Yellowhead Highway. After that, follow Anthony Henday Drive south until it connects to the  QE2. Travel time is about 40 minutes.

    To get to Churchill Square: Head southwest on Highway 15 and it's a straight shot right into the heart of Edmonton. Travel time is approximately 35 minutes.

    SummerWood in Sherwood Park

    SummerWood is situated approximately 8 kilometers east of Edmonton.

    To get to the Edmonton Airport: Follow Sherwood Drive south until you get to Highway 630. After a quick jaunt, jump on Anthony Henday Drive until you get to QE2. From there, it's a straight shot into Nisku and should take about 35 minutes to the airport.

    To get to Churchill Square: Simply follow Baseline Road west and you'll be in the heart of Edmonton in around 25 minutes.

    Ruisseau in Beaumont

    Ruisseau is situated approximately 7 kilometers south of Edmonton.

    To get to the Edmonton Airport: It's really easy to get to the airport when you live in Ruisseau. Just head west on Highway 625 into Nisku and then turn left on 36th Street, and you'll be at the airport in just 15 minutes.

    To get to Churchill Square: Follow 50th Street (Highway 814) north all the way until 102 Ave in Edmonton and you will be there in 38 minutes.

    Meadowview in Leduc

    Meadowview is situated approximately 20 kilometers south of Edmonton.

    To get to the Edmonton Airport: It's truly fast and easy to get to the airport from Meadowview. Just follow QE2 north and you will be there in 15 minutes.

    To get to Churchill Square: The QE2 goes right into the Edmonton city centre. Travel time is around 45 minutes.

    Whether it's by car or via the region's extensive bus network, living in a bedroom community makes it easy to study, work, or visit the big city or get to the airport in less than an hour.

    After seeing that the above bedroom communities are located just a short distance from Edmonton, you have to wonder, is your commute time as big a deal as you think it is?
