Sherwood Park appeals to families who are looking for that ideal suburban lifestyle. It’s far enough outside of the Edmonton perimeter that you can escape the stress of city life, but close enough you can still take advantage of everything Edmonton has to offer.

If this sounds like something you’d like, check out the quaint community of SummerWood. With a variety of brand-new homes built by builders you can trust, you may just find the life you’ve been dreaming about in this neighbourhood.

    Creekside Living

The SummerWood community is so beautiful, you could feel like you’re perpetually on vacation. The entire neighbourhood is designed to incorporate the natural surroundings. You’ll find a storm pond, creek and an expansive urban forest. This could be the perfect place for you to take your dog for walks, train for a marathon, or teach your kids the beauty of nature throughout the seasons. You have plenty of opportunities to be active outside, and connecting with nature helps you live a more relaxed lifestyle.

With its paved trails for family bike rides and three playgrounds, SummerWood is especially attractive to families with children of all ages. You’ll find it’s easy for your kids to make friends on the playground or even just next door. Everyone wants their children to have friends throughout the neighbourhood, and you’re sure to find this when you build your home here.

    School Choices

There are a large number of public and Catholic schools throughout Sherwood Park. You’ll have a designated school based on your address, but the district also allows you to apply for entry into a non-designated school if you're looking for something different.

For instance, some schools offer French, German, and Ukrainian bilingual services. Schools that are full of children from their designated areas are called “Closed Boundary” schools, and these schools will not accept applications from non-designated families. However, a large majority of the schools throughout Sherwood Park have places available for children outside of their area.

Families can look at their options through the Elk Island Public Schools or through the Elk Island Catholic Schools.

    Nearby Shopping

You don’t want to travel long distances to get the things you need. Fortunately, SummerWood is quite close to shopping areas featuring the stores you want. For instance, you can easily head to the Emerald Hills Centre, where you’ll find a Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and a wide variety of other stores. Save-On-Foods, the M&M Food Market, and Real Canadian Superstore are also close.

SummerWood features a variety of different home styles. There are currently single-family homes and duplex-style homessee y. This means you’ll be able to find a model with all the space you need at a price you can afford. As an added bonus, many of the builders in SummerWood have move-in ready options available. You can get a brand-new home without waiting for the company to build it.

    Recreational Opportunities

If you live in SummerWood, you have plenty of opportunities for recreation just by stepping out your door. You can bike, run, or walk on the paved trails, and meet up with neighbours for fun on the fields in the park. You’re also close to recreation centres like Millennium Place and the Emerald Hills Leisure Centre. In places like this, you can take an exercise class, go swimming, or join a recreational sports league.

    Commuting

SummerWood obviously appeals to people who work in the nearby schools or the Strathcona Community Hospital, but those who work in downtown Edmonton won’t have a long commute either. It’s easy to get on the Yellowhead Highway, and the travel time to downtown takes around 20 to 25 minutes. You can also relax while you commute by taking the public buses provided by Strathcona County Transit.

SummerWood offers residents the relaxed lifestyle they’ve always wanted. Since the community is in the early stages of development, those who buy now will be able to snatch up the best lots, including pie-shaped lots with bigger backyards.

Come take a look at the show homes available throughout the community to see if it’s right for you. We think you're going to like what you see.
