Love Your Community: Laurel Crossing

Written by Kirsten Warwick | March 20, 2018

Located just outside the southeastern edge of Edmonton proper, there's a neighbourhood situated between 17th Street and 23rd Avenue, adjacent to Anthony Henday Drive. This friendly Edmonton community offers residents a unique mix of small-town comfort and accessibility to all of the attractions in the big city.

This is Laurel Crossing.

Here, you can find a selection of modern, beautiful homes with a full range of amenities. The neighbourhood is a careful blend of single family homes, duplex, and townhomes.

Speaking of homes in Laurel Crossing...

Showhome Grand Opening Event!

Brand new showhomes are available for viewing in this excellent community – so it's time to celebrate! That's why on Saturday, March 24th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, you're invited to Sip n' Dip in Laurel Crossing's Showhome Grand Opening Event !

You can sip some (kid-friendly) sangria, and dip into some tasty tapas in between tours of the stunning new showhomes. Kids can stay entertained by craft and temporary tattoo stations, and if you're looking for even more excitement yourself, try your luck by entering to win a private tapas party!

This event is sure to show you that no matter what type of lifestyle you live, you can find your fit in Laurel Crossing – here's what you have to look forward to...

Green Spaces and Parks

The community was designed from the ground up to incorporate lots of open green space and beautifully landscaped walking trails. There are several parks located within the community as well as two ponds.

Nearby, there are lots of other options to enjoy the great outdoors, including the Ivor Dent Sports Park, Silver Berry Park, and the large Pollard Meadows Park.

Schools

The community is home to the brand new Svend Hansen School that serves grades K-9. There are also plans to build another school just steps away from the community.

Currently, there are more than a dozen schools within a 10-minute drive of the neighbourhood, including both public and parochial facilities that offer classes in both English and French.

And thanks to the community's strategic location near the Anthony Henday and Whitemud Drive, commuting to institutions of higher education like the University of Alberta and MacEwan University takes just 20 minutes.

Healthcare

Whether you're looking for a drop-in health care centre or a full-service hospital, Laurel Crossing offers residents a wide range of options.

Within a 10-minute drive or less, residents have access to a wide variety of healthcare facilities, including the top-rated hospitals and clinics in Edmonton.

Commuting

Laurel Crossing is a carefully designed residential community with an innovative layout that minimizes the number of cars driving through the neighbourhood. Yet the neighbourhood is located adjacent to Anthony Henday Drive, Edmonton's "ring road," that allows quick access to any part of the big city.

The Edmonton Research and Development Park is only a five-minute drive from the community.

The community is also well served by public transportation with many bus routes connecting to destinations across the Greater Edmonton area.

Dining

With its strategic location on the outskirts of southern Edmonton, Laurel Crossing offers its residents a wide gamut of different dining options.

Nearby to the community are many fast-food and casual dining options such as IHOP, Subway, and A&W. For more exotic fare, small bistros and restaurants serving Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Swiss, Vietnamese, and Indian food are also very close. And if you like coffee and tea, there are several boutique shops within a short distance.

No matter what your dietary preferences, Laurel Crossing is the ideal community for people who love good food.

Shopping

Living in this neighbourhood makes it very easy to enjoy your shopping. Whether it's a quick run to the supermarket or finding specialty items like sports apparel, musical instruments, or boutique shops, everything is close to home in Laurel Crossing. There is a flourishing shopping center right across from the community.

South Edmonton Common is just minutes away, home to more than 100 different stores, shops, and vendors. Other big-name retail stores located nearby include a Walmart Supercentre, a Real Canadian Superstore, IKEA, Costco, and The Home Depot.

Recreation and Entertainment

There are many fitness centres, recreational centres, and other facilities located just a short drive from the community. These include the Greenfield Community League, the Mill Woods Recreational Centre, and the Kinsmen Twin Arenas. The Meadows Recreation Centre is also within walking distance and offers a variety of activities for families, children and adults.

And when it comes to big-name sports facilities, you're always close by when you live in Laurel Place. Rogers Place, home to the Edmonton Oilers, is just a short drive away as are the Kenilworth Arena and the George Hughes South Side Arena.

For fine arts, residents have several choices, including Union Hall, the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, and Convocation Hall.

Popular nearby attractions also include Fort Edmonton Park, West Edmonton Mall and the Edmonton Valley Zoo.

Home Models

All of the homes in the Laurel Crossing community adhere to strict guidelines in order to protect and preserve the integrity and long-term value of the neighbourhood. While the quality is unchanging, there's a desirable arrangement of different home sizes, shapes, and styles available. It's easy to find your home in Laurel Crossing with such a variety to choose from.

Laurel Crossing offers residents a truly comprehensive community experience that combines the tranquillity of a family-friendly neighbourhood with all of the attractions of the big city nearby.

Elegant landscaping, lovely homes, and recreational choices are some of the many reasons why Laurel Crossing is one of Edmonton's premier communities.
