There’s no better way to celebrate Canada’s 150th than spend some time at one of Edmonton’s outdoor pools. In order to celebrate this one of a kind birthday, the city has made a decision that's making big waves!

From Canada Day until the end of the 2017 season, admission to Edmonton's outdoor pools will be completely free (but you will still have to pay for lessons or speciality programs.) So get swimming with this list of all the pools participating!

    Queen Elizabeth Pool

The Queen Elizabeth pool is located right beside the Kinsmen Sports Centre and Kinsmen Spray Park. This area features children's playgrounds, sports fields, picnic sites, river valley trails, and the John Walter Museum – fun for the whole family! You can spend a whole day enjoying the pool, soaking up the sunshine, and doing other activities in the Kinsmen community. Pack yourself a picnic and your bathing suit and try out the Queen Elizabeth pool!

The Fred Broadstock pool is located in the west end of Edmonton, so don’t think you have to head Central to take advantage of this awesome opportunity. This pool is the newest of all the Edmonton outdoor pools and it’s rated the most accessible. It’s completely modernized and surrounded by trees, a must-see if you're on the west end!

    Oliver Pool

After being closed for renovations, Oliver pool is back up and running as an excellent place to hang for anyone located downtown or looking for an outdoor adventure. This urban pool is an oasis featuring a sundeck, picnic tables, and complimentary wallet lockers for your valuables. They also have a deep water slide for your kids to splash around at!

    Millcreek Pool

The Millcreek pool is located just off the bustling area of Whyte Avenue, making it perfect for a day of shopping and suntanning! This outdoor pool has one of the largest tanning areas and has a majestic view of the ravine. It also has a concession for any of your needs and is near the Millcreek Cafe, which is a superb place to go for breakfast before you hit the pool. They also have lots of parking and are very accessible by bike or longboard.

Now that you have an idea of which pools are involved, you can choose one or visit them all, over the summer. Make sure to get the whole family outdoors and make a splash in honour of Canada’s 150th!
