If your kids are under 12, chances are they’ve been looking forward to Halloween with excitement and anticipation for a little while now. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take part in the fun too!

There are no shortage crafts you can create alongside your kids this Halloween. Below are eight terrific kid-friendly ideas to get you started!

    Painted Pumpkins

Nothing says Halloween more than a big orange pumpkin on your doorstep. While this is a fun activity to do as a family, the sharp knives needed to carve it can leave adults to do most of the work.

Painting a pumpkin will allow your kids to be more involved while leaving you with a great finished product. For example, have your younger kids paint a base colour on the pumpkin, and let your older kids finish them off with a creepy face that will spook the neighbours.

One of the challenges of Halloween for many parents is controlling the time your little monsters are out trick-or-treating, as well as the amount of candy they collect. Plan ahead and buy bags or buckets that your kids can decorate in a size you're happy with.

    Mummy Juice

Make the simple things in your child’s life even more fun with Mummy Juice. Use white vinyl tape or hockey tape and wrap it around a juice box (be sure to remove the straw first), then glue on two googly eyes .

    Flower Pot Spiders

Reuse the old flower pots you don’t need anymore for flower pot spiders your kids will enjoy. Have your kids clean, dry, and paint the pots black. Once dry, have them paint a face on the pot. You can then use hot glue to fasten bent pipe cleaners to the pot for legs.

    Paper Plate Monsters

Who says crafts need to be elaborate? On a white paper plate, have your kids draw, paint, or glue construction paper to create a Halloween themed face. Once complete, glue ears or a hat cut out of construction paper along the edges of the plate, and you have a ghoulish monster to hang in your window!

    Peek-a-'Boo' Puppet

Draw the outline of a ghost or goblin on a piece of construction paper (make it small enough to fit in the cup). Measure and cut paper that will be glued around the cup.

After your kids have drawn their Halloween character on the outline you provided, cut it out and glue it to one end of the popsicle stick. While you're doing this, have your kids decorate the paper that will go around the cup before fastening it.

Then, from the top of the cup insert the bottom of the popsicle stick through a hole at the bottom. Your little ones will enjoy putting on puppet shows afterward!

    Spooky Stuffed Peppers

Halloween presents a unique opportunity to make excellent themed foods your whole family will love. For these spooky stuffed peppers, get as many bells peppers as you’ll need to feed the family and hollow them out. With a small sharp knife, cut the pepper so it looks like a Jack-o-Lantern. Then place the spaghetti dinner you’d usually be having in the peppers.

This is a great opportunity to gets your kids involved in meal prep while feasting on “brains” to fuel their trick-or-treating adventures!

    Halloween Crayons

Finally, a productive craft to do with your kids that will repurpose all those broken crayons in your house! Place small pieces of crayon into a Halloween themed silicone you can find at many craft stores. Get your kids involved by letting them pick the mould and colours they want to include. Place it in the oven and you have exciting new crayons for your kids to play with!
