Whether you believe in the power of Cupid’s arrow or not, it's time to think about what to get that special someone in your life. To help you out, here are 11 gift ideas that will show them just how special they are to you.

    1. Gift Card

These make the perfect gift. They come in all denominations and can be bought at your local grocery store, bookstore, or online. The best way to make sure your significant other gets what they want is by giving them buying power. If you can't choose a particular store, shopping malls sell gift cards that provide the recipient with even more shopping options.

    2. A Unique Date

While you may go on several dates a month, why not plan one that's extra special?Surprise your significant other with a planned evening doing something they really enjoy. Edmonton has many fun things for couples to do on date night.

    3. Lessons

Learning isn’t just for children. People of all ages enjoy learning new things, and Edmonton has a wide variety of classes for people to discover something new. Learning something new together will give you a shared experience you'll remember forever. These lessons could be anything from cooking to dancing

    4. Meaningful Jewelry

Most women love jewellery. What they love even more is wearing jewellery that has a story or special meaning behind it. Think about giving your significant other a hidden message necklace that reveals a special message only to you.

Women aren't the only ones that get to enjoy personalized jewellery. If you're buying for him, consider giving cuff links that have wedding vows or special song lyrics on them.

    5. At-Home Spa

There is nothing more relaxing and luxurious than a spa. If you can't afford sending your special someone to the spa, consider bringing the spa home. Creating a spa at home is an equally romantic option. However, you may want to discuss this with your significant other–they may not want to be a test subject for your first manicure. Plan accordingly.

    6. Picnic Perfect

Picnics are always romantic. It is the perfect way to have a special meal just between the two of you. Pack a picnic basket full of your favourite foods and set up the picnic in a picturesque spot. Even though it's winter, you can still have a picnic in the snow or find a quiet spot indoors, such as Lee Pavilion in the Citadel Theatre

    7. Personal Story

Your love story is one of a kind. Nobody else has the same story. A special way to commemorate that moment is by having your story turned into a personalized book.

    8. Vintage Candy

If your loved one has a sweet tooth, but you want to stay away from chocolate, then consider getting candy. Don’t just go for regular candy, but choose candy from your childhood, or try something new. If you want your loved one to receive candy all year round, you can get a candy box. They send a box once a month with many different varieties.

    9. Cute Pillowcases

One way to remind your special someone of your love for them is by getting something that will remind them of you every day. Since our beds are (usually) something we see on a regular basis, consider getting cute pillowcases. Not only will these change up the décor, they will put a smile on your loved one's face every day.

    10. Mixed Tape

Oh yeah–the classic mixed tape! Your significant other will appreciate this retro concept and give them a feeling of joy they haven’t had since the mid-90s! Just because technology has moved on does not mean that mixed tapes are a thing of the past.

Now, you can buy a USB that holds 900 minutes of your favourite love songs or even create an online playlist with them in mind.

    11. Fun Plush Toy

Novelty items are all the rage these days. They're the perfect way to bring beloved characters into the home. There is no better way to show how much you know your loved one then by getting them a novelty toy. Maybe your significant other is a Star Wars fan? The real character might be scary, but they can even make Darth Vader look cute in plush.

Valentine's Day is a great day to show all the people in your life how much you love them. The best way to demonstrate your love is by getting them something they will enjoy and appreciate. Flowers and chocolates might do the trick, but if you want to go the extra mile, these 11 ideas can help you make this Valentine's Day the best one yet.
